How much to add sugar
0.6L of alcohol is obtained from 1 kg of sugar, in other words, 1L of alcohol is obtained from 1.7 kg of sugar. Knowing these values, we can estimate the amount of sugar needed to obtain a wine of a specific strength, and so e.g.:
– for wine 10% ® or 100ml of alcohol per 1l of wine ® or 100 x 1,7 = 170g/l (You need 170g of sugar for each liter of must to get wine after fermentation 10%)
– for wine 18% ® or 180ml of alcohol per 1l of wine ® or 180 x 1,7 = 306g/l (You need 306g of sugar for each liter of must to get wine after fermentation 18%)
