Homemade Swedish mulled wine - Glogg
Glogg is a type of mulled wine, very popular in the Scandinavian countries. It is prepared on the basis of red wine with added sugar, honey, spices, orange peel. Often, to strengthen Glogg, I add various strong alcohols, e.g.. fruit distillate, brandy or vodka. Prepared and heated in this way, Glogg is served in glasses with raisins and crushed almonds. Glogg is very popular around the Christmas season.
For home-made Glogg, we can use the original Swedish Glogg stew for wine.
To prepare delicious homemade Glogg, add 120g of fine sugar to the 750ml bottle (possibly glucose) and add half of the essence vial to Glogg wine(25ml). The remaining volume of the bottle should be filled up according to one of the instructions below and mixed until the sugar is completely dissolved:
- Alcohol-free gloog: fill the remaining volume of the bottle with water.
- Standard glogg: Pour 320ml of red wine and the rest with alcohol 40%.
- Glogg strong: Pour 260ml of red wine and top up the rest with alcohol 40%.
- Glogg very strong: refill the volume of the bottle with pure alcohol 40%.
Leave the prepared Gloog on 1-2 days for a good bite.
We serve it well warmed.
Perfect for long winter evenings in good company.
A 50ml bottle is enough to prepare 2x 750ml Glogg.
